Tegami ~Haikei Jūgo no Kimi e~
(Letter ~Dear 15 Year Old You~)
Angela Aki
Dear whoever is reading this letter:
I wonder where you are and what you’re doing
I have worries that I, as a 15 year old child, cannot tell anyone
If I write a letter to my future self
I’m sure I can open up about it honestly
I feel like I’m going to lose, like I’m going to cry, like I’m just going to fade away
Whose words should I go on believing?
This single heart of mine has been broken into pieces many times before
I’m living in the present in the midst of pain
I’m living in the present
Dear 15 year old me: thank you
I have some things I want to tell you
Things like how and where you should go; if you keep on searching, you’ll find your answer
The stormy sea of youth is relentless but
continue to the shores of tomorrow for your dreams are your boat
Don’t give up, don’t cry, when you feel like you’re just going to fade away
You should go on believing in your own voice
An adult like me also has nights when I’m so hurt I can’t sleep but
I’m living through this bittersweet present
Everything in life has a purpose so follow your dreams without fear
Keep on believing
I feel like I’m going to lose, like I’m going to cry, like I’m just going to fade away
Whose words should I go on believing?
Ah, don’t give up, don’t cry, when you feel like you’re just going to fade away
You should go on believing in your own voice
No matter what age you can’t simply avoid and pass by sadness but
put on a smile and live for the present
Let’s go on living for the present
Dear whoever is reading this letter:
I wish you happiness
