Soup
Sakura Fujiwara
Even if we get old
Even if we get wrinkles
Let’s stay together
and savor together
the soup of our love
Hey, if we take your and my
conception of the ordinary
Hey, if we take it all,
pack it into one pot and boil it together
How’d it be?
It has some sweetness and
It has some bitterness
Over time
the flavor comes together
It’s complex and mysteriously profound
But it’d become
an addiction again
I can’t stop now
Let’s patiently and carefully boil our
Soup of love
Let’s load our
disparate likes and dislikes
and our different hobbies and tastes
into that little boat called life and set out
on the ocean
Waves will come
Rain will pour
It will clear up
It will storm
But that’s just “life,” right
We get angry and
we fight
If I speak frankly
Sometimes I even hate you
I’m sorry...
But just cause it took time and effort
It’ll all probably be delicious, both in love and in life
We’ll get just a little
jealous
We’ll have just a few
secrets
that, on the contrary, is our own spice
Even if we get old
Even if we get wrinkles
Let’s stay together
and savor together
the soup of our love
Well then, let’s have today’s soup
